President’s Letter

I never imagined that I’d be looking forward to another stoplight, but I am.  The new light at Chisholm Trail and FM3406 is a welcome addition for Wood Glen residents.  Like it or not, it’s safer for all of us.  I’m sure many of you agree as I’ve talked to lots of people who say they’ve simply stopped trying to pull out of Chisholm Trail onto FM3406 to get home to Wood Glen.  It was too dangerous.  The fender benders were numerous.

Now, all we need is one more at the intersection of Creek Bend and RM3406.  Wait, your saying, “What? Another light?”  Yes, it’s planned to go in this first half of 2008, and frankly I’m happy.  I cut over to Hairy Man Road quite a bit and know this too will be much safer for my family.  The accidents I’ve come upon (after the fact) at this juncture have looked scary, folks.  So, yes, another light soon and it will be safer crossings for drivers, bikers and walkers.  Now, if we could just get drivers to slow down on Plantation Drive!

Last month I wrote about our neighborhood priorities and made a mistake.  I said “no trailers or boats in driveways” and that’s technically wrong.  I hate to be wrong, but I’m thrilled someone is actually reading my column!  So, here’s the deal:  you may park a trailer or boat or RV temporarily for up to two days in your driveway.  The intent of this deed restriction is to allow property owners enough time to clean, load, unload, etc., their trailer/boat/RV.  Then, it’s expected those vehicles are to be removed for permanent storage elsewhere.

Finally, the 2008 survey regarding our amenity center master plan and upgrades priorities will soon be in your mailbox.  Yes, we are sending it out in print form (snail mail) to make sure all residents have the opportunity to get their opinions heard.  Our email database is robust (nearly 300) but it does not include every resident.  We also will send out electronic notices to those who want to send it back online.  We’d prefer to receive the surveys online because it’s easier for the Board to compile results faster.  The only way we can send you an online version is if you are signed up to our email list.  So make sure you’re signed up at www.woodglen.org.  We want and need your opinion, so please take the time to respond.

Best regards,
Grace Capwell
