Tree Vines Removed from Greenbelts
The Wood Glen Property Owners Association (WGPOA) project to remove vines from the Wood Glen greenbelt areas is nearly done. In an effort to save the trees long term, the WGPOA took the advice from expert master gardeners who observed some greenbelt trees had already died due to suffocation by the vines which grow aggressively. Although it takes a long period of time before the vines kill a tree, there were several areas of trees that were in imminent danger of being severely affected by these grape mustang vines.
The Board hired a tree service to remove vines, debris, trash and some dead limbs (that posed a fire hazard) from the greenbelt ar eas. No live trees or vegetation of any kind (except the mustang grape vines) were removed from these areas. The very few large trees and limbs that were removed were completely dead. They posed a danger to those using the paths and a liability to the WGPOA.
The Board’s goals are to keep the greenbelts beautiful, natural and safe for our residents. The Board makes every effort to do the right things for our community and to represent you well. If you have any input to our neighborhood progress, please contact your section representative.
In addition, the same crew also will prune the trees in the neighborhood entrance area off of Plantation Drive and the amenity center common areas in January after a good cold spell. There will be areas cordoned off to residents during this temporary time – including at the playscape – to get the job done. Every effort will be made to minimize the time these areas are closed for safety reasons. Thanks for your cooperation.
