President’s Letter

If you’re like me, you’re ready for some cool weather.  The Wood Glen Property Owners Association (WGPOA) is ready too.  We have several projects scheduled for the fall/winter timeframe.  From tree pruning to significant improvements at the pool/amenity center, the common areas will be in tip top shape as we move into spring.

The accomplishments in 2007 and the list of upcoming projects was welcome news to the folks who turned out for the WGPOA annual meeting last Sept. 19th.  If you missed it, you can still access the presentation via our website at woodglen.org

While you’re there, sign up for our mailing list if you are not already on it.  We can communicate immediately to residents via that list and there’s no spam.  Thanks to all of you who have signed up this year already.  We’ve seen a 30 percent increase in subscribers.
Our messages seem to be getting out.  Just this past Oct. we ran out of ant bait for the first time ever during our backyard handout.  Those who missed out on the supply (not many) can be assured we will order ample quantities for the spring handout.  Research Pest Control completed the front yard and common area ant bait application in early Oct. as well as placing mosquito dunks in standing water along the creek bed greenbelts.  This is our first try at mosquito dunks to see if they help cut down on our pesky intruders.

Thanks once again to Denise Hoss, our social chair, for organizing the Halloween event.  It’s always a popular activity at the park.  I’m grateful to the volunteers who help out as well.  If you can help in any capacity, please contact the board.
Also, I’d like to welcome our newest board member volunteer for Section 4:  Jen Johnson.  She is stepping up to the plate to give some time to our neighborhood and represent her section.  I believe if we all give some time to the neighborhood with more than 500 households, then this subdivision will maintain its high standards for years to come.
Finally, I hate to be redundant, but please keep it slow along Plantation Dr.  With school in session we have a lot of kids out at bus stops, riding bikes and walking to and from Old Town Elementary.  I’ve heard recently from some residents who witnessed near pedestrian hits between cars turning left out of Wood Glen (on a green light) as kids and parents are crossing in the crosswalk.  I am thankful for all the conscientious drivers who take great care in driving in and around our beautiful neighborhood.

Happy Thanksgiving!
